The IMAGO - an interactive and evolving space on the web that provides an experience of Country, and represents the network of effort and people in the Clarence Valley and wider catchment who work to heal, sustain, and achieve balance on Country.
The aim is to activate a field of hope to nourish a sense of possibility that together we can make the Clarence River catchment a haven for biodiversity in uncertain times, a model of sustainable farming, business and government practice, and a precious place for all people on this earth to treasure. We hope that the IMAGO will complement the work of Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl Elders, will encourage and grow efforts by environment groups, and will inspire all land stewards (farmers, industry, government and individuals) to work towards sustainable practices that nurture biodiversity.
The IMAGO is an inclusive project. We aim to represent all effort for biodiversity by groups and individuals. This includes but is not limited to: First Nations Cultural and other on-Country projects; environment groups; regenerative and other sustainable farming practices; schools with active environment projects; on-ground government and private sector projects. If you have a project you feel should be included please contact us here.

The IMAGO mascot is the Australian fritillary butterfly. It was once common in river estuaries and open, swampy coastal regions in NE NSW and SE Qld but is now critically endangered and may be extinct. However, unverified sightings of the fritillary sustain hope. Its caterpillar depends on the arrowhead violet and these plants struggle because of land clearing, wetland drainage, stock trampling and weed invasion. For more information click here

This is our base IMAGO. It represents the watercourses that come together in confluence to become the mighty Biirrinba - the Clarence River. Take a moment to observe and wonder at its intricacy.
The IMAGO has many layers and each of these can be viewed by clicking on the text buttons above. More layers will be added as we expand our efforts to connect with groups and individuals working with Country. Each IMAGO layer will have clickable links to let you further explore aspects of that layer. Please note - if you are viewing on a mobile device please use landscape mode for the images to load correctly. Click on the text buttons above the IMAGO to begin. |
